About

The Gairloch And District Times has been publishing community news since 1978.

Based in Gairloch, we try cover anything that might be of interest to people that live in huge, but sparsely populated, area of Wester Ross - roughly the area of the mainland between Dundonnell in the north to Shieldaig in the south and Achnasheen to the east.

It is a registered charity, run by a team of local volunteers who are supported by a small part-time staff.

We aim to produce a print paper every two weeks thoughout the year, although we might miss a small number of editions so that we can give our team a break. We're grateful to local shops for helping us to distribute it. Here's the list of where you can buy it.

We provide addtional Wester Ross Round-up updates to hundreds of people that have signed up to our free email newsletter.

We rely on the financial support we get from local businesses and our readers. As a charity (SC041926) all the money we generate from subscriptions, advertising and donations is reinvested into the paper. Whenever possible we try to support local jobs, community groups and businesses.

Only our paying subscribers get:

  • to comment on posts on this website.
  • Access to selected premium articles online before they're published in the paper.
  • Access to the latest digital version of the paper.
  • Access to all the archives.
  • A feeling of tremendous well-being for contributing to the ongoing success of the paper.
