Welcome to our latest Wester Ross Round-up. This week the newsletter is winging it's way to 991 inboxes. When we started this newsletter we weren't sure whether there was any hope that we could make it to 1000 subscribers and now we're tantalisingly close. In a bid to get us over the line, we're offering a free six month digital subscription to the online edition of the G&DT to our thousandth subscriber. Could it be someone you know? Please forward this email to friends, neighbours and colleagues and encourage them to sign up.
And if you've just found us and want to get this free newsletter each week yourself, tap the button below to sign up.

βοΈ We've had an lovely run of summer weather in Wester Ross, timed perfectly for when the kids have to go back to school. Gairloch High School shared this photo of the new cohort of first year pupils on their first day at the big school.

πΊ To commemorate VJ Day the bench opposite the Morrisons store in Gairloch at Achtercairn was temporarily adorned with a beautifully made poppy display, as the photo at the top of this newsletter shows. The display was made by the needles and pins group. There will be two VJ Day commemoration events at the Aultbea Hub over the last weekend of August. On Friday August 29 at 19:00 the film In Which We Serve will be shown. And on Saturday August 30 at 14:00 the Inverness Military Wives Choir will perform. Both events are free but tickets must be booked in advance by calling (01445) 781454 or 781337.
