Livestock worrying warning and more Easter events

🟑 The Highland £2 bus fare cap pilot went live this week. An official from Hi-trans tell us that they are not aware of any operator in the council area that has refused to participate. The pilot is set to last 12 months and has £10m allocated to it. More: Hi-Trans

🟑 Police Scotland have put out a further warning to dog owners over livestock worrying, after an incident near Gairloch that left one sheep dead, and another injured. More: Facebook

🟑 Local Police have also put out a request for information after two incidents of vandalism in Gairloch. According to a Police spokesperson: "A car parked on Faolin, Strath had its tyres damaged at some point between 8.30pm on Saturday 14 March to 5pm on Sunday 15 March.

"The second incident occurred in Achtercairn at some point between 11am on Monday 16 March to 10am on Tuesday 17 March.

"If you live in these areas, we'd encourage you to check your CCTV and also be vigilant to any suspicious people or activity around. If you have information, please get in touch with us or with Crimestoppers quoting reference CR/0113972/26."

🟑 The Scottish Wildlife Trust have announced plans to run both weekly and monthly conservation volunteering groups at the Inverbroom Estate. The charity is also looking for volunteers to help with upland wader bird surveys and surveys of various other species, on the property.

🟑 The Gairloch Catholic Church Easter Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 11.30 on Saturday, April 4 in St Maelrubha's Church, Poolewe.

🟑 Locals hoping to put together a Wester Ross Drama Group say they've had a great initial response to the idea, and hope to organise a meeting for everyone interested on April 7. It's not too late to get involved. To take part email: [email protected]
