Hello and welcome to a special spooky edition of the Wester Ross Round-up ๐ป . This week's issue is also something of a milestone, as it is one year since we sent the first Wester Ross Round-up out. Our first issue was sent to 661 people. This week we're sending to 1066 people. If you've been with us for the year, thanks! And if you've just joined us, we hope you're enjoying it.

There are lots of spooky events planned to coincide with Halloween in Wester Ross. Here are the ones we know about:
๐ On Friday October 24, there's a little ones to P7 Halloween party being organised at Aultbea Village Hall, from 18:00 - 19:30. ยฃ5 entry. If you plan to go, please contact the organisers in advance. More: Facebook
๐ On Sunday October 26, The Rhidorroch Distillery is hosting a Little Pumpkins Craft Party at Ullapool from 15:30. It also involves pizza. More: Rhidorroch Distillery
โ On Thursday October 30, the same venue is doing something for older souls. Details in the flyer below.

๐ป On Friday October 31, there's a kids Halloween party planned in Shieldaig Village Hall between 16:00 and 17:30pm. More: Facebook
๐บ Also on Friday October 31, there's a Halloween Party for grown ups in the Jam Jar, Aultbea, with DJ Colin Irvine and a prize for the best costume. More: Facebook
๐ There's a free cocktail on offer for anyone who turns up in fancy dress to the Shieldaig Bar Halloween party on October 31 from 21:00. More: Facebook
๐ฑ And Kyle and Lochalsh Community Trust are teaming up with Skye Circus Skills and Black Dog Puppet Company to transform The Plock into the Little Plock of Horrors on Saturday November 1 between 18:30 and 19:30. Tickets: Universe.com
๐ฐ And lastly, there's more sedate Halloween themed offerings at the Am Bร rd Cafe in the Gairloch Museum. They will be selling spooky cakes before new winter opening hours come into effect. More: Facebook

Turning to non spooky things...
๐ฎ The Aultbea Post van has broken down and no replacement is available, so locals are being asked to go to the Aultbea Church this week from 12:00 to 16:00 "if anyone would like their post mail and parcels." More: Facebook
๐ By now, you many be looking for ideas to entertain the kids during the holidays. On Friday October 24, the High Life Highland Rangers are organising an Autumn Nature Day on a croft at Loch Broom. The event is free but you need to register. For more search for ref: SOO000596 on the High Life Highland Schools Out website.
๐ Gairloch Primary School Parent Council are still looking for volunteers to help them with a planned playground tidy-up on October 25 from 10:00. More: Facebook
๐ฅ On Saturday October 25, Applecross Film Club reckon they might have landed the UK Premiere of Tinฤ. They are rightfully excited. More: Facebook
๐ฆ The second round of the Dochas Community Fund is open. It funds community projects on the Applecross peninsula. Applications must be in by October 31. More: Dochas
๐ฅ And after running a successful crowd-funder, the Applecross Sports and Wellbeing Association have taken delivery of their community sauna. They're running test sessions for locals before taking public bookings. More: Facebook

๐พ Meanwhile, Trees for Life are hiring for two people to work on a project looking at reintroducing Lynx into the Highlands. More: Trees for Life
๐ชถ Thanks to Leigh Cannon for letting us share his photo of a Great Northern Diver. You can see it at the top of this post. He said: "The seasons have changed and October brings the great northern divers back. They winter off of our coast before heading back to Iceland and Greenland to breed, mostly gone by May." He also shared this lovely photo of a ringed plover on Opinan Beach.
