⛺ Let's kick off with some good news from Torridon. The Torridon District Community Association have been awarded £20,000 from the Crown Estate to fund a detailed feasibility study into taking the Torridon Campsite into community ownership. According to Development Officer Katie Anderson: "The aim would be to make some improvements and turn it into a sustainable source of income that could help fund other community projects—and support the community centre and its facilities too." More in this social media post.

🔥 Everyone has been enjoying the recent long sunny, dry spell of weather. But it also means an elevated risk of wildfire. This week there have been significant fires in Assynt at Stac Pollaidh, on Skye, and near Mallaig with fire crews from Ullapool and Aultbea among those called in to help with the Assynt fire. As this newsletter is being written, there are news reports of another fire at Loch Torridon.

Unsurprisingly, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are calling on people to be very careful. More surprisingly, the ParksWatch blog has used satelite imagery to show there may still be a lot of "reckless" muirburn going on, despite the warnings.
