๐Ÿšฆ The ongoing saga over the SSEN A832 roadworks continues... After being forced back to the drawing board when their first proposals were roundly rejected by locals as unworkable, the outline of a new plan has been revealed this week by the power firm. The good news? There will be no daytime road closures. The bad news? It looks like roadworks will affect the route for three years from next January. There are two public meetings coming up where you can grill officials on the plans. More: SSEN

๐Ÿš† Meanwhile, from Sunday, October 19, until Monday, November 10, Scotrail engineers will be upgrading around 4.5 miles of track between Achnashellach and Strathcarron. This means no trains will run between Dingwall and Kyle of Lochalsh from October 20 for the three-week period. More: ScotRail

โญ Dark Skies Festival events are starting to twinkle gently into view. On November 2, at 7pm at the Old Schoolhouse, Inverasdale, you are invited to go on a "fascinating journey through art and astronomy." Details in the flyer below.

๐Ÿš— MP Jamie Stone has raised concerns about a significant backlog of practical driving tests in the Highlands, urging the UK government to provide targeted support for rural test centres as young people and job seekers face delays that could extend to 2026. ๐Ÿ“ฎ News that Royal Mail has been fined ยฃ21m by Ofcom for failing to meet its delivery targets will come as no surprise to many Wester Ross locals. It may be the third largest fine ever issued by the regulator, but Citizens Advice is sceptical it will lead to improvements. More: BBC

๐Ÿ“ฑIf you use a very old mobile phone that only operates on 3G, you may find that it stops being able to access mobile data soon. Virgin Mobile 02 have warned Scottish customers that they plan to turn off their 3G network in November. This could also affect you if you use the Tesco Mobile or giffgaff networks.
